Hi there and welcome to MyDroid!
Background
My name is Mahram and I’m an Android developer/evangelist/enthusiast/fanboy based in Vancouver, BC. I’m planning on sharing tutorials, tips, tricks, and best practices here on MyDroid. I hope that you find the content here useful. If not, at the very least, I’ll have a place to store the knowledge I’ve gained through the various projects I’ve been involved with. ☺
Career
Compared to the previous firms that I’ve worked at, airG is relatively small (that’s probably what makes it so effin’ awesome). I had never worked for a company of that size and it worried me a bit, but deciding to take the job at airG was probably the best career choice I’ve made so far! I’ve been at airG for just under a year now and extremely happy to be here. I work with great friendly people and Android development is no longer a hobby, it’s what I do! It’s my job and I love it!
Education & Past Roles
I studied Computing Sciences at the Simon Fraser University and got my BSc in 2006. Since I was an avid gamer and many of my favourite games came out of Electronic Arts, that was the first door I knocked on (Burnaby, BC) and holy crap I had a job! It lasted around 3 and a half years and was a lot of fun, but all good things come to an end and this was no exception. Oh well … During my time at EA Canada I learned a great deal on various programming topics (C++, C#, and a whole lot of nAnt scripts). I worked with a great group of people from whom I learned so much.
My next endeavour was at Vision Critical, which creates great market research software (Need surveying tools? Give them a shot!). I worked with another great group of engineers (and a crap load more of nAnt scripts), but never really connected with the application domain (market research) so I was passively looking (I worked with great people so there was no rush to leave). I was then contacted by Signature Recruiting regarding an Android development position with my current employer, airG.
Well, that’s a little bit about me. Again, I hope you find the content here useful and don’t hesitate to contact me if you want me to post on a particular subject.
